What We Offer

Services

Classical training that travels to you – in person, on screen, or in the arena.

The Riding Refinery has no fixed address. The methodology travels – to your facility, to your screen, or to a clinic host near you. Every service is built on the same foundation: the principles of the Mikolka Method, applied honestly and always in service of the horse. Choose the format that fits your situation and your horse.

Training Clinics

Short-format intensives built around the Mikolka Method – bringing four centuries of Old School classical horsemanship directly into your arena. Clinics are booked selectively and hosted at approved facilities. The Riding Refinery is currently scheduling clinics at Willowbrook Farm Equestrian Center in Plainfield, New Hampshire.

Mikolka Method Dressage Clinic
A focused day or multi-day clinic working the foundational principles of the Old School: the educated seat, bending in motion, the gymnastic development of the horse, and the clarity of the classical aids. Open to all levels. Limited enrollment to ensure quality of instruction.

Benefit Clinics
Full-day clinic events where a portion of enrollment directly supports equine-assisted therapeutic riding work. High-quality Mikolka Method instruction for all participants, with the added purpose of making therapeutic riding more accessible. Ask about the current benefit clinic schedule.

High-Performance Hoof Care Workshop
Barefoot hoof trimming is not just about going without shoes – it is about removing the pain and restriction that limits what a horse can offer. This workshop covers trimming basics, pathology recognition, and the direct relationship between hoof health and performance. Available as a standalone event or as a premium add-on to a Mikolka Method dressage clinic, where the connection between hoof freedom and collection can be demonstrated in real time.

Equine-Assisted Neuro-Rehabilitation

A Selective and Consultative Program

The therapeutic application of classical equine work – using the rhythmic, multisensory demands of riding to stimulate neuroplasticity and support neuro-rehabilitation – is among the most meaningful work the Riding Refinery does. It is also the most carefully considered.

This program is not open enrollment. It is offered on a case by case basis to a small number of families whose situation, goals, and circumstances are a genuine fit for what this work can provide. An initial conversation is the starting point for every inquiry – not a form, not a waitlist, but a real exchange about your family member's history, needs, and what the horses might be able to offer. If you believe this work might be right for someone you love, reach out. The conversation is free and there is no obligation. We will be honest with you about whether this is a fit.

Online Learning

Train at your own pace, anywhere.

Our self-paced online courses bring the same methodology to riders who cannot work with us in person. Structured modules, video content, and exercises you can take directly to the arena. Work through them on your own schedule, at your own pace, with the freedom to return to any module as your training develops.

30 Day Riding Reset
Rider Development • All levels
Most horse owners and dressage riders want to improve their connection with their horse and advance in their training – but so often do not know where to start. The 30 Day Riding Reset gives you this starting point. Drawn directly from the Mikolka Method and the living traditions of the Old Spanish Riding School, this course delivers thirty days of structured exercises and targeted instruction designed to enhance horse and rider communication, refine the application of your aids, and lay out a solid gymnastic training progression for your horse. The goal is not just to ride better – it is to become your own trainer. To read your horse clearly, apply your aids with precision and timing, and follow the same gymnastic progression the Old Masters used to develop horses that could do anything asked of them.
